Family picture 1978 Bellwood, Illinois, family reunion. It took forty years for all of us to get together at my sister, Mary Krueger's home. We stayed for three days, playing harmonicas, organ and singing old songs.

Mom and Dad in 1935. This is the only picture I have of our parents. It was taken at Mallory Park in 1935. Mom worked at Mallory making capacitors for radios, burning her fingers everyday. Dad died February 26, 1937 in an automobile accident. Mom was thirty-four , widowed with seven children and Dad had no insurance.

Mom's sisters and brothers, 1985.Alfred Showers, Edna Turner, Irene Haley, Walter and Joseph Showers at Mom's funeral. Three children, Frank, William and Lydia preceded Mom in death.

Mom's mom. Josephine Wissen Showers 1875-1956.This is probably a wedding picture. She was born in Indianapolis, In on the southside of Fountain Square above a drug store. She met my grandfather at a horse show in Decatur, Illinois where her parents lived. She came to Indianapolis in 1917.

Mom's father. Alfred Showers was born in Manheim, Pennsylvania and died in 1914 in a horse and buggy accident. He is buried behind Hernley's Mennonite Church and left my grandmother with several children and pregnant. She lost twins. All of my grandfather's family is buried in Manheim, Pennsylvania.

Mom's grandfather. Joseph Wissen born in 1848 Germany.He is buried in Crown Hill Cemetery. After his wife's death in Decatur, Illinois he came to Indianapolis and married. His 2nd wife was Margaret Huhn. He died November 26, 1916.

Mom's grandmother. Mina Rost Wissen born in 1848 Germany.She died in 1902 in Decatur, Illinois. She is buried in an unmarked grave in Greenwood Cemetery.
