Hattie Belle Lewis

Hattie Belle Lewis (Nanny) was born November 2, 1916 in Georgetown, Ky.She was one of ten children born to the late Thomas and Pearl Harris. Hattie accepted Christ at an early age, at the First Baptist Church in Georgetown and lived her life accordingly. Hse graduated from Georgetown's Ed Davis High School in 1934. Hattie later married Wyatt Lewis and to this union one daughter, Alice Ann Lewis was born. Hattie was a faithful member of Messiah Baptist Church and her last 25 years, Light of the World Christian Church, where she was active in the Senior Citizens Ministry-Don't Mention Age (DMA). She was also a member of the Household of Ruth and for many years actively involved at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Senior Citizens Center. In addition Hattie was a founding member of the Cord II Social Club. Hattie leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted daughter, Alice Ann Cullens, two grandchildren, Vanessa (Allen) McClendon and David (Teresa) Cullens; four great grandchildren, Trey and Evan Cullens, Wesley and Lauren McKinney; one brother, George R. Harris; one sister Dorothy Mae Williams, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and special friends who will forever hold her close in spirit and thought.
