William Boyd

William, called Bill, was born in Indianapolis, Indiana about 1898. After he grew up, he roamed the United States, working in places such as New York and Death Valley as a cook or butcher. He returned to Indianapolis and married Martha Cunningham Robertson around 1945. Martha had three children, Dorothy Elswortha Robertson Crouse Corwin, Leonard Allen Robertson and Herschell G. Robertson from a previous marriage to George Allen Robertson. Bill operated a grocery on English Avenue the last three years of his life. Previously he had owned restaurants at Morristown and at 16th and Central. He had three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Clift, Mrs. Bertha Nickleson in Indianapolis and Mrs. Jessie Buford in Iowa. He also had two brothers, Harry N. Boyd in Indianapolis and James E. Boyd in Dayton, Ohio. Bill enjoyed playing card games and visiting with family in his spare time. Bill loved children and was an amiable man. Bill died in 1952. Martha died on August 2, 1982 in North Hollywood, California.
