If only I knew...who am I? I can tell you the date Pearl Harbor was bombed... I can tell you when John F. Kennedy was president... I can tell you who sang Jailhouse Rock in the 50's... If only I knew ... who am I? I can remember who Glen Miller was... I can remember getting to see 2 feature length movies and a newsreel at the local movie theater... I can tell you the name of the theater... If only I knew...who am I? I can remember my favorite teachers name in school when I was in the second grade... I can remember Annie, although I don't know who she is... I can remember so many things from so long ago... If only I knew...who am I? I know the lady with the laughing eyes and low voice cares for me... I know she makes sure I am cared for, with loving touches and a soothing smile... I know that I can't remember her name, but sometimes I do remember love... If only I knew...who am I? I know that I don't like mayonnaise or chicken... I know that I love chocolate chip cookies, will eat them till they are all gone if someone would only let me... I know the cookie lady loves me, but I don't remember her name... If only I knew...who am I? I don't remember last month, last week, last night... I don't remember that I shaved myself this morning... I don't remember the last time I ate or what the meal was...
