She wrote this poem, September 26, 1944'Education'Oh how we love that Ben Davis SchoolWhere we are learning the GOLDEN RULES;From those who have so safely passedWith highest honors in education, classed.They are training us for a future lifeThat we may make better husbands and wife;For in this world our lives dependon EDUCATED brains our COUNTRY to defend.While we are young that impression must beTo help our minds the pitfalls see;That we may NEVER let OUR COUNTRY'S fateTo the HEATHENISH BARBARISM DETERIORATE. In Memory of CarranzaMexico's Lone EagleHis wings are now folded,His work is now done;Oh! How we mourn for Mexico's son.Our Eagle still soars in the sky so blue,God protect him is our prayers,So earnest and true.We love our Lindy,And wish him good luck,As Mexico did Carranza,But had to give him up.Killed in New Jersey, July 13, 1928
