Lt. Colonel Bill Abel (Ret.)

Bill J. Abel, Ret. Colonel, age 69, Indianapolis, passed away November 30, 2003. Colonel (R.) Abel distinguished himself with over 30 years of military service. Colonel Abel proudly served as a two time Brigade Commander of the 76th Infantry Brigade, one tour as the 2nd Brigade Commander and most notably Commander of the 1-238th Calvary Squadron.He was a member of American Legion in Greenwood, IN, National Guard Association of Indiana (NGAI), Association of United States Army (AUSA), Honorary Regimental Commander of the 238th Calvary. He was also a graduate of Knox College in 1955 and Command General Staff College, of which he was an Honor student.
