Larry Wayne Groce was born April 22, 1945 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Hershel and Bernice Hickey Groce. Hershel was in the Army Air Force during World War 2 and was stationed in Nebraska. Hershel was shipped overseas to Guam in the South Pacific and Larry was born after he left the states. Bernice brought Larry back home to Indianapolis, Indiana when he was 3 weeks old.In November 1945, Hershel was discharged from the service and returned to Indianapolis. The family increased with the births of 2 girls, Linda Kay was born October 15, 1947 and Carol Ann was born December 10, 1948.Larry lived his entire life in Indianapolis. He was a 1963 graduate of Manual High School. He worked at Klinge Enameling, Inc. for 36 years. Larry never married and lived in the same house for 57 years.Larry loved to fish, hunt, attend tractor shows, and shop at antique malls. He enjoyed a good meal and a good laugh. He liked spending time with his nephews Brian, Matthew, Mark and Chris. After the death of his father in 1981, he continued to live at home with his mother. He died January 23, 2005.
