James Ray Smith

Jim was born September 6, 1934. His proud parents were George E. Smith and Laverne M. Wilson Smith. He was given the name James Ray Smith. Jim grew up with his aunts, uncles and cousins, getting together for family outing. Betty Lou was his older and only sibling. She later married Francis Randall and raised four children with him. Jim married Priscilla Rose Clements on May 4, 1957 in Holy Cross Rectory. They had five beautiful children, Michael 1958, Catherine 1960, Brenda 1961, Kenneth 1962 and Matthew 1965. A loving and caring dad, Jim worked hard providing for his family many times with 2 jobs. He joined Sears Roebuck Company in 1963. He worked for them for 30 years, retiring in 1993 due to health problems. In 1997, the loss of our youngest son, Matthews weighed heavy on his heart. In 1998, oxygen was his lifeline. He followed doctors' orders and did his daily routines. He was a beloved husband for 46 years of our married life. On Sunday morning around 7 am, August 3, 2003 he finally lost his battle here on earth, only to pass into God's care, no oxygen, no pills. What a joyous vision for his family.
