Frank Eugene Hill was born on April 20th, 1909 in Chicago, IL. The family moved from Chicago to Peoria, IL, then relocated to Indianapolis, IN. Frank graduated from St. Phillip Neri School in 1923 and attended Arsenal Technical High School.Frank officially met Margaretta Elizabeth Leibel in the Standard grocery store where he was employed, although he had seen her before that time because they were neighbors and lived on adjoining streets. After a five year courtship, they were married on June 30th, 1938 by Rev. F. T. Taylor at the minister's home in Southport, IN; the marriage lasted nearly thirty years until his death on March 31st, 1968. After twelve years of marriage, Margaretta gave birth to their daughter, Linda Suzanne Hill. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Camp Blanding, FL, Co. B. 206th ITB. He was a rifle instructor. He was a member of American Legion Post 62 in Indianapolis. After the war, Frank was employed by the U.S. Postal Service where he was superintendent of mail at Fort Harrison in Indianapolis. He transferred to the main post office in the "old" federal building where he worked until his retirement in June 1967. He was a member of the Circle City Conservation Club and the United Federation of Postal Clerks, Local 130.Frank developed heart problems when he was in his early 40's and was forced to retire on disability after suffering a heart attack on Friday, April 28th, 1967. He died March 31st, 1968 in Community Hospital East, just two months before his daughter graduated from Tech High School. He was survived by his widow, Margaretta E. Hill, daughter, Linda S. Hill, mother Blanche E. (Pearsall) Hill, sister Eleanor (Hill) Yeager, and brothers, Howard G. Hill and Ralph M. Hill. His parents were divorced in the early 1930's, but it was later found that his father, Ambrose E. Hill also survived and was living in Ohio at the time of Frank's death. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. William O. Lipp and were held at the Harry W. Moore Peace Chapel at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3rd, 1968. He was buried at Washington Park East Cemetery.
