Ellen Mae Osborn Armstrong

July 14, 1932 — December 14, 2005

Ellen was raised on a farm in Wells County, Indiana. During her childhood she participated in the activities of the Prospect Methodist Church. After graduating from high school she met and married Charles R. Armstrong of Bluffton, Indiana. They moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in the late 1950’s and began raising a family. Here they resided until her passing. Ellen was most recognized for her commitment to the Christian way of living and strived to raise five children in that fashion. She was a member of the Lawrence Church of the Nazarene for over forty years and served as board member, Sunday school teacher, and delegate to the missionary society. She took great pleasure in the teachings of her Sunday school children and activities at the church. Gardening was her most favored activities. She had made comment that as a child growing up on the farm, gardening was her favorite chore to do, in fact in her mind it was not a chore. She found peace and comfort working with the earth, watching as her efforts bloomed. Joy could be seen in her eyes as she smiled in discussion over what plants had made it through the winter to bloom again. Ellen cherished most her family, friends and the Lord. All those she cared for remained close in her thoughts and daily prayers. Ellen was a caring woman and reached out to those who needed strong honest advice, a helping hand, or just a compassionate heart to lean on. Never forgotten will be the love she shared for all. Enclosing is a poem from her granddaughter, thoughts of what she may say to us from Heaven. “Words from Heaven” I’m safely home in Heaven Though I know you miss me so, The love I have always felt for you all, Within my heart still flows. My spirit will remain with you Every single day, appearing as a Rainbow or as ocean waves at play. I’m in the gentle rains that fall, And in the morning dew. All you see that is beautiful Reflects my love for you. I didn't mean to cause you pain, My time had simply come The work that I was meant to do On Earth had all been done. I'm safely home in heaven Amongst past loved ones and friends And where when God has called you too We will be together, forever, again. C.A.
