Elizabeth Louise Miles Carr Murrell

Elizabeth was born to Oscar and Ruby Miles on 2 May 1921 and raised in Loogootee, Indiana. She finished high school at the Academy Immaculate Conception/ Marion Heights Academy in Ferdinand, Indiana.While her name was Elizabeth Louise, everyone knew her as 'Betty Lou'. Her nieces and nephews called her 'Baba'.She was a person who was kind, generous and thoughtful of others. She loved to dress in nice clothes, pretty shoes and big hats. She always wore a big, bright hat on Easter.She was a very independent woman with a strong will and, most of the time, a woman of strong opinion. She called a spade a spade and no one ever left her presence without knowing where she stood on things. Even her Irish temper got the best of her once in awhile. She loved to dance and often said that when she was growing p and still at home, her father would tell her date 'If you don't dance, you can leave now'. For over 40 years, she was married to Mike Carr who was a graduate of Notre Dame. Therefore, Betty Lou was a very faithful and avid Subway Alumni. She looked forward to the weekend football games and, while she could travel, she loved to attend the games. Afterwards, a Saturday Notre Dame game on TV was her delight and she looked forward to these with great enthusiasm.Betty Lou didn't like thunder and lighting, so when a storm came she would go to the basement and hide.She loved to cook and have friends in for dinner and parties. 'The more the merrier', she did belong to the Guardian Angel, St. Augustine and St. Vincent Guild, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrence, Indiana.
