Daniel Eugene Huffman

May 29, 1918 — January 27, 2009

Daniel Eugene Huffman 5/29/1918 - 1/27/2009 Daniel was born May 29, 1918 in Piqua, Ohio to Earl and Gertrude Huffman. He had two half-brothers - Carl Huffman, and Harry Edwards. He had one half-sister, Mary Edwards. He married Frances L. Huffman September 18, 1943. They had four children -Richard Allen, Marilyn Diane, Deborah Deanne, and Pamela Denise. They were married 50 years until the death of Frances in 1994. Daniel was a WW II veteran serving in the U.S. Army 340" Engineers Construction Battalion. He helped build the Alaskan Highway. He worked for National Tea (Standard Grocery) for over 40 years and retired in 1980. He was an honest and good man who was grateful for all life brought him. In Our Eyes He was rough and lacked in etiquettes, Society would say. He had no classy attributes, To help him on his way. He wasn't a fancy dresser, And not so trimmed and neat With simple clothes and simple shoes, He wore upon his feet. He didn't belong to a club, Or drive a shiny car And when he took vacations, He didn't go very far. He didn't dine on fine cuisine, To him "Segos" was a treat. And when it came to eating out, Biscuits and gravy could not be beat. He had a modest little house, But that met all his needs. He kept his lawn cut nice and short, Never worried about the weeds. He worked long hours at his job, To make an average pay, And even when he was sick or tired, He'd go to work each day. His job was just a warehouse job, His pay just made ends meet. But, a few good friends and family, Made his life complete. He wasn't well versed in poetry, Theater or the arts. His education was limited, But he was very smart. He loved the simple things in life, For riches he did not thirst. He knew what was important, And his family he put first. The wealth that God gave him, To treasure in his life, A loving son, three daughters, And a very special wife. He never had much money, And his life was not a show. But he was still the richest man, that we will ever know To others he was a simple man, And fame he's never had, But he's the greatest man we know, He's our loving dad.
