| Wyona was born in Greensburg, IN, daughter of Louis & Lillian Boyce. She married Hugh Smith of Carthage, IN and had four children. They lived in Phoenix, AZ from 1950 to 1966, then moved back to Indiana. Their son Jerald died in 1956, born with a birth defect. Hugh died in 1973 in Greenfield, IN where they set their roots. Wyona married again in 1974 to George W. Ragan of Portland, IN who also lived in Greenfield. Wyona was a very loving, hard working, giving woman. She always put herself last. While in AZ she provided foster care, at one time she had 11 children plus 3 of her own, wow. She was very active in church, First Baptist Bible in Phoenix. She taught Sunday School for a few years. After moving back to IN she went to work at Hancock Memorial Hospital from 1966 to 1975. She always had to be helping someone, putting herself above none. She lived for her family. Wyona became ill around 1991 and died of a massive heart attack. She will always live in our hearts. If there is one thing she taught us in life it was how to love one another & survive. |
