| We were "fixed up" by family on both sides and married on Father's Day 1955, one year to the day of our first date. Joan wanted to be a mother and soon she was, and three times more. Though her poor health became known during our first year of marriage, it didn't deter her from becoming a loving and wonderful wife and mother. She was my love, best friend and confidante. Even with the event of Penni's poor health, our family had many good and fun years together before her death. Joan was pleased to see her grandchildren start on life's way, with the help of great parents. She instilled great values in her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, with early trips about the world, six in all, the greatest being the photo safari to Kenya. Later trips in the US & Canada to almost 200 lighthouses were highlighted by climbing ten, a few steps at a time. She was determined to live her life to the best of her ability, and helped prepare us for it's end. |
