Jay was born July 14m 1933, the youngest of 9 children to James and Viola Lingenfelter. He married Barbara Aichorn in 1953. They were blessed with 2 girls (Linda and Diana) and 2 boys (Robert and Arthur). After Barbara died, he and his children moved to California.
In 1967 he returned to Indy and started bowling at Brody's Bowling Alley and there he met Janice Oberlies. They were married August 9, 1969 and had 1 son (Tom). They were married just shy of 30 years before his death in 1999.
