| Margaret was born to German immigrants and went to the 8th grade, then to work. She worked at the Telephone Co. and then worked as a bookkeeper for a dairy in Anderson, IN. She met Herbert, they married and had 3 children. She helped Herbert in the grocery stores they owned. She loved to crochet and work crossword puzzles. She loved TV, and made wonderful fudge candy and butterscotch pies. She had a lot of illness but never complained. She had cornea surgery on both eyes in 1962. She kept her sense of humor until the end, very witty and quick to respond. She kept her dignity and lived after Herbert's death in 1964, always missing him. She always said she didn't favor any of her children, and there was a special spark when we were around. She played a good game of Poker and Euchre, and left a void when she went on to Father God's Arms. I know she is happy now with her beloved Herbert. |

Margaret's mother, Bernhardine Thelen, was a loving, caring person.
|
Margaret's father, Charles Thelen. He and Bernhardine both came to the U.S. from Germany. Neither one of them could speak English, but thrived for many years.
