Wilbur was born in Scoopa, Miss. where he attended school up to the 10th grade. He was only 7 yrs. old when his father passed away and he helped out on the family farm. Wilbur joined Blues Chapel Methodist Church. He also sang in a quartet and performed at several churches in the south. He moved to Indianapolis in the late 1940's; joined the Armed Services in 1950 and was discharged in 1952; worked at RCA in 1953 and retired in 1988. Wilbur & Nina bought their home in 1967 and spent 32 happy years there. He loved his family & step-family very much and they all loved him. He was an avid baseball fan and once played for the Indianapolis All Stars Team. He loved playing piano and organ, singing and gardening. Wilbur always kept his yard and garden beautiful. With his wonderful personality he never met a stranger, and shook hands with everyone. Wilbur was an all around good man. He is loved by all and is deeply missed. |
