Bev Smiles
Bev smiles a lot. She smiles at her husband, Jim, whether from a present on her birthday or from watching him getting knocked silly by a wave in Hawaii. Her grandkids produced huge smiles as well as her kids, family and friends. Finding a perfect shell on a beach brought a smile to her face. Watching sunsets on a beach, talking to her sister, or the rare great dessert were all smile makers.
She smiled when she arrived at the Big Island; at Sedona, Arizona; Hershey, Pennsylvania; Long Boat Key, Florida; Maui and Oahu; Williamsburg, Pennsylvania; The Baltimore House; Niagara Falls; Sanibel Island, Mt. Dora, Florida; Cruising with Friends; St. Augustine, Florida Kauai, Hawaii and Key West, Florida. The ever popular trips to see her kids, grandkids and Family all brought great smiles.
If she saw a whale or a dolphin playing in the ocean of the gulfs, the excitement of her smile was radiant. Seeing and helping her grandkids at birth brought unmatched smiles of wonder and pride. Her smart smile was always present when she solved the puzzle on the Wheel of Fortune or when she figured out who did it on her favorite crime shows! She also like to smile when her husband would challenge her on who was right - 99% of the time -it was I told you so smile. A rub on her leg or that meow in the morning from her cat, Emily-and her smile appeared naturally. She smiled many times- after hearing that the cancer had spread a smile of determination.
I think the greatest smiles she reserved for her husband. It was the smile of love and happiness.
So when you read this or think of Bev, please always remember her smile. How beautiful it was and how freely she gave her smile to all. At this moment she is smiling down at you from Heaven. The brightest grandma smile up there.
Thank you Angel for all the smiles you gave us

Celebrating Life - 12/31/03Bev & I always went out to celebrate New Years Eve. Before the cancer but especially after the cancer. We always looked on it as being able to say "we made it thru another year ! Let's celebrate" ! Our last New Years Eve (12/31/07) Bev was so proud that she'd stayed up till 1am !! We danced, we loved, we celebrated life.

Bev & Jim on the Key West Pier. Catching that perfect "sunset" was always special for us. Whether it was on the Big Island, the Gulf Coast or onboard a ship - - we always held each other close and held on to the last seconds of each sunset.

A precious picture of Bev, enjoying a meal on the 30th floor of our hotel. Right across the street from Niagara Falls. What fun it was to see her smile !

Bev loved shelling ! We must have acquired over 2000 shells, from the Gulf coast, Hawaii and "any" other beach she found herself on. One interesting thing to note - is that in ANY picutes of her shelling - you will NEVER see her in any water deeper than her ankles (at most). I was the wader who had to go out into the water and look ! ha! ha! ha!

Remember, I said we liked to enjoy life ? This is Bev on Longboat Key with her "other best friend" - her sister, Marsha and her sister-in-law, MaryLou

This shows you how "strong" Bev was. The picture is from March of 06. She was in that "trial" stage with the new chemo drug at the time. Can you tell she has Stage IV, Lung Cancer ? We danced, we loved, we celebrated life !

Exactly 3 months before God called her, we went on a 7 day cruise with a wild bunch of "senior citizens" from our park. Somthing you didn't know about Bev and cruising. She really loved it - BUT, BOY could she wear you out shopping ! At every port of call, Bev would have her "coupon" book out and she'd have me pushing her here and there, going from one shop to another ......... trying to "pick-up" as many FREE gifts as she could !! (big ha! ha!) Too bad they didn't have a GPS unit for the wheelchair !

Taken 11/28/07. Since we'd just did Niagara Falls in Sept. and we were going on the cruise w/in a month - - Bev said we needed to keep our Anniversary celebration down a little this year. What's cheaper than Walt Disney World ? On top of the Contempoary Hotel at the California Grill. Question - did she ever take a "bad" picture ? Answer - NO, that was reserved for me and me alone ! ha!

This is Bev & I with our dear friends, Barb & Butch. We had so many adventures with them. Cruising, Hawaii, New Year's Eve, movies and of course - PIZZA NITE !

Unfortunately, this is as close as we ever got with all our grandkids. Lord, how Bev loved them - all. From Kelsey to Kira. Missing in this picture (since they weren't born yet) is Miss Lily and Miss Kira. Think ? the date was actually in mid 2004. They NEVER failed to bring a smile to Grandma's face !!! All 10 of them. She'll be forever watching over you all from Heaven !

We always looked forward to going out to eat with our closest friends when we got back home to Indy. Rick & Rachel, Joe & Suzy, Rod & Vicki, Pat & Judy. You all fit the description " BEST FRIENDS" Your love, support and prayers were so important and appreciated. Note: no one can get ticked off at me about how you all look in this pic ! Remember, i had no control over that strange man !!!!! ha! 7/07

This was in Feb. of 08 when my parents were visiting. Surprised that i only had " 3 " pictures of Be and them. Here we are at Disney's Hollywood Studios. One of our fondest and funniest memories of Mom & Dad visiting was a couple of years ago. We went to the Magic Kingdom and Mom & Dad decided that "if" Bev could ride Space Mountain - they could. Would they listen to Bev & me ? After the ride, Mom's remark was something like " i'll never listen to Bev again " !!!! ha! And she was the one who tried to tell them that it "might" be a little rough and wild !! ha !

In Jan. of 06, Jeana & Jamie (w/ dad's help) came down for a absolute "SURPRISE" visit. I actually had Bev convinced i was going to a police auction (much to her worry). When the girls SNUCK past the front of the house and knocked on the door ............ Bev was soooo shocked and soooo happy ! They did a spa, spent a night at Disney and hung out together. Bev always said how much she appreciated this and what it meant to her !

This was one of our last Sunsets from the Big Island. NO ONE can understand how "happy" and at peace Bev was when we got to see a awsome Sunset from Hawaii. She once told me, how if she "couldn't go" from our house with our kids and Marsha around her ........ she'd choose sitting on the beach, watching the sun set into the ocean on the Big Island as the next most perfect place to be when it was time to leave. It was just 1 month later that God called her. Boy, bet those Sunset's in Heaven are soooo beautiful !
