Phyllis Anne Smale

Phyllis Anne Smale was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, loved by all who met her. She worked in various banking positions for 31 years, most recently as a bank manager for American Fletcher National Bank at 30th & High School Road, retiring in 1985.

Phyllis was very active in her community. She was a member of the Indianapolis Council of Women; American Business Women’s Association, Tres Ben Chapter; Beta Sigma Phi Sorority-Laureate Alpha Upsilon Chapter; Alpha Kappa Master Chapter; Soroptimist International Club of Indianapolis; Bank One 20-year Club; and Christ United Methodist Church.

Phyllis also volunteered at Wishard Hospital since 1977, Westwood Elementary School, the Wellington Group, and served as an ambassador at the Indianapolis Airport.

Phyllis received the Marion County Council Volunteer of the Year Award in 2004 and the Distinguished Alumni of Arsenal Technical High School Award in 2006.
