Minnie Alma Ball was born on April 21, 1933 in Kingsport, Tennessee. She was the eldest child of Alfred Okey Ball and Blanche Roberta Crawford. She had six siblings, Frances Ruth, Alfred James, Oscar Harold, Barbara Jane, Dorothy Mae and Shirley Jean.

She met and married the love of her life, Claude Herman Livesay, on November 17, 1951. She was a devoted wife and stood by our father’s side throughout his illness. She was an outstanding mother to her four children, Sandra Kaye, Claude Herman Jr., Donald Raye and Mark Allen.

Her interests included attending football, basketball and baseball games at Warren Central High School to watch her grandson, Donnie. She also enjoyed watching her son, Mark, race at the Speedrome and Anderson Speedway. She was a Nascar fan, cheering for her favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. She enjoyed time spent with family and every holiday and birthday was celebrated at mom’s house. She spent many hours in her backyard, planting flowers and just relaxing.

She attended school to become a Floral Designer and worked several jobs, including John Marshall High School, Kroger, Lanamon Florist and Sears. She was a member of the Lawrence Senior Citizens and the Jitney Travel Club. She loved to travel and her most memorable trip was a cruise to Alaska with her best friend, Frances Swindle. She also enjoyed a trip to Texas with her grandson, Donnie, granddaughter, Michelle and great granddaughter, Sabrina.

Mom was a very giving and caring person. She taught us the true meaning of family and was always there when we needed her. She is greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

After a short illness, mom lost her fight with Pancreatic Cancer on March 14, 2006.

My Angel From Heaven

You gave me an Angel from Heaven,
Who tended to me every day.
She saw me through trials and errors,
Watched and prayed as I went on my way.

My Angel protected me always,
And vigilant ever was she,
While fasting and praying for others,
And faithfully calling on Thee.

My Angel from Heaven did love me,
I was blessed from the day I was born,
For that Angel was my precious mother;
And now, her departure I mourn.

So please, Father, give her that mansion
She talked about time after time.
Let her sing in your Heavenly choir
Among Angels’ voices sublime.

Please bless her and keep her forever
In Heaven, away from all pain,
And help me to be much more like her,
So I can be with her again.
