Inez May (West) Hash (02-22-1910 to 07-08-1988)

Inez, (Bobbie), grew up in Spencer, Indiana. She was one of 16 children. Her parents Ziba and Nora West, had a farm. Inez learned a carpentry trade from her Dad.

After leaving home she got a job as a telephone operator, which was close to the time she met her husband Charles Wright Hash. After marrying, they purchased two home in Indianapolis, and rented one of them. After a few years they sold the homes and purchased three homes and a barn on 4 acres in Hortonville, Indiana.

November 8, 1943, they adopted a little girl (Diana LaVerne), and then three years later they adopted a little boy (Charles Hiram).

In the late 50's they tore down the old barn and built a large building for their Poultry and Egg business. They later built two homes and two garages to expand their rental property. After retiring from the business they moved into the large building, which gave them 5 homes to rent. They had a small animal farm that consisted of sheep, geese, rabbits, ducks, chickens, and a pony.

Inez belonged to the Eastern Star, and attended Hortonville Friends Church. She was a gifted artist. She loved to go out on location and paint, or take pictures. She once went back to Spencer, Indiana, her old home place to paint a large painting for her sister Nina. Her old paintings hung at the First National Bank in Noblesville. One of her larger paintings had been shown at the Indiana State Fair. She received ribbons for her paintings.

Inez and Charles loved to take their granddaughters, Angie, Audra, and Anne, camping. She also loved to plant flowers and had a great garden. She worked at O'Malias Grocery in the flower department.

In the early part of the 80's, Inez found out she had colon cancer, she had surgery and the cancer was removed, but in 1988 she started feeling bad and found out that she had cancer in the liver and had only 6 months to live. She had one great grandson (Brandon) before she died July 8, 1988.
