William D. Spears 67, Indianapolis, died peacefully in his home on September 30, 2005. He was born in Sumner County, TN on September 27, 1938 to Frank and Vera Spears. He was known for opening and managing major grocery store chains, prior to purchasing his own grocery store for his partner, John Mikita, called Mikita's Market. Due to health concerns they decided to close the market and dedicated themselves to a career in antiques, traveling throughout the country together. While on this journey over the years, they met numerous friends who became family. He is loved and will be missed by many. William is survived by his long-time partner John Mikita; daughters Shelia Spears, Pamelia Keene and Debra Hill; sister Ethel Trout; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Monday, Oct. 3, from 2 to 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center – Washington Park East. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday immediately following visitation. Entombment will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery.
