Viola Mae Milum Ratliff was the daughter of John Leonard and Willie Marie Cook Milum. She was the third of 11 children. Viola was born and reared in “Stringtown”, the west side of Indianapolis. She met her husband, Paul at Fox’s Skating Rink on the south side of Indy. They married at the Milum home on April 22, 1944. Viola was active with the Lauter Boy’s Club and School # 30 PTA. She was president of Lauter Mother’s Club and School # 30 PTA. Viola had 2 children, Sally and Thomas, but was “mother” to all her nieces and nephews as well. If anything happened, it was always “get Viola”. She loved her family and friends. As of 2005, she 5 grandchildren, Robert P. Jones, Amber D Jones, Thomas Lee Ratliff, Jr., Sarah Jeanne Ratliff and Joshua Tyler Ratliff. She also had 4 great grandchildren, Zachary Paul, Mackenzie Catherine, Alyssa Rene and Ian David Jones. Her children survive her. |
