Our Dad died too young. He was the first born. He dreamed of flying. He died doing what he loved to do, We have missed himm all my life.
You Left The Children Crying.
Dedicated to Richard Henry Meyer - Pilot
You left us
To go do what you loved
To fly
Up to the heavens.
But today
You would not return
As you "slipped the surly bonds of earth"
Your should soared skyward
This day
You kissed heaven
To remain there,
AND YOU LEFT THE CHILDREN CRYING.
I watched an eagle soar, and
I see your kindred soul.
On dragonfly wings
You perched upon my shoulder.
A tiny bird watches me
From my window sill.
Are you watching Daddy?
Do you see?
The child who is a woman now
ME?
Do you love me still?
And the grands and gr-grands too?
How they have wished to know you
All their lives thru.
That day
As you rode the fury of steel
To crash upon the earth
How I have wished
Just that one day
Gravity had failed!
