Clifford Elwyn Birk was born February 7, 1918 at 814 S. State St., Indianapolis, Indiana. His parents were Clarence Lysle Birk and Julia (Lombard) Birk. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School, Indianapolis in 1936 and was a self-taught man who advanced rapidly in his profession of electrical design and engineering. He obtained his Master Electrician License January 1, 1971.
Clifford married first Emma Lucille (Britton) September 24, 1943 at West Christian Church, New Palestine, Indiana and they had two daughters, Marcella Lucille and Krezlyn Marie Birk. He married second, Marjorie Ellen (Young) Teater on August 5, 1955 at 3745 W. 98th St, Carmel, Indiana (married 38 years) and he gained a stepson, John Ray Teater.
Clifford worked in the electrical contracting field most of his life. He worked at C.L. Smith Electrical Company, Glaco Engineering Company, and finished his career as Vice President of Barth Electric Company, after 34 years, in the Electrical Design and Engineering Department, retiring April 1, 1981. He took pride in all his projects and was loyal, dependable, honest and trustworthy.
He became a member of Centre Lodge # 23, Free & Accepted Masons in 1952, and he received his 32nd degree in the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis, Indiana on March 27, 1953.
Cliff was a family man who enjoyed his children, grandchildren and his extended family. He was a good husband; father, son and son-in-law who helped take care of his parents and his mother-in-law. He especially enjoyed his years spent on Morse Lake, Noblesville, Indiana where he could boat and sit on his screened porch in the woods and watch the birds and animals. Clifford and Marjorie Birk moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in July 1988 after Marjorie's retirement from General Motors. Cliff loved to travel to see his children and grandchildren in Oregon, Wisconsin and Texas. He died August 28, 1993 in Toole, Utah while on the road helping his daughter, Krezlyn and her son Adrian, move from Wisconsin to Oregon.
