Birth Date: 12/25/1935
Death Date: 9/28/2002
Our Lady of Peace Cemetery
Our Lady of Lourdes, Section D, Lot 77

Carolyn Julia "Judy" Cone was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on Christmas Day December 25, 1935. She was the daughter of Cornelius LeRoy and Dorothy Elizabeth (Brooks) Cone. She lived in near downtown Indianapolis until the summer of 1948. In August of 1948 Judy's mother died unexpectedly. Judy's father was unable to take care of Judy and her brother Michael, who was 2 years older. Judy and Michael moved to Kokomo, IN. to live with Aunt Mary and Uncle George McKee. While living in Kokomo Judy attended the 8th grade at St. Patrick Catholic School. In the summer of 1949 Judy moved to Washington, IN to live with her Aunt Gertrude and Uncle Harry Eppinghoff. Uncle Harry's mother Cora became a grandmother to Judy. Judy attended high school at Washington Catholic High School. She was editor of the school paper and sang in a chorus group. At graduation Judy was second in her class, so she gave the salutatorian speech at the graduation program. In the spring of 1953 Judy took a job with a local variety store, which was Murphy's Dime Store.

In the fall of 1954 Judy decided to enter a nursing education program at St. Mary's School of Nursing in Evansville, Indiana, graduating in August 1957. Shortly there after Judy took the State Board and she became a Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana. She was very proud of her nursing career.

Judy met Edward Doyle of Cannelburg, IN at a square dance in the summer of 1956. They were married at St. Simon's Church in Washington, IN on Sunday May 22, 1960. After their marriage they moved to Indianapolis where they lived during their married life.

Judy loved her family. She had three daughters, Carolyn, Catherine and Colleen; four grandsons, Ryan, Nicholas, Jacob and John and three granddaughters, Abigail, Emily and Natalie. Judy worked in nursing for many years. She worked at St. Mary's Hospital (Evansville), St. Vincent's (Indianapolis) and St. Francis Hospital (Indianapolis). She was a volunteer nurse at Community East Hospital. She also worked as an industrial nurse at RCA, Thompson Consumer Electronics and BMG in Indianapolis. She was a past president of American Society of Civil Engineers Wives Club. She was a member of the President's Council and John Purdue Club of Purdue University and the Guardian Angel Guild. Judy was a long time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the church choir. She was very dedicated to the choir and enjoyed singing.

It is with great sorrow that we mourn the death of a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Our hope is that we will celebrate her life and we will be able to learn from the great example that Judy set for us as Christians with a life focused on Faith in God, Hope in the beauty of a new day, and Love for all those she came in contact with.
