Bettie was the only child born to Frank and Lula Harris on November 3, 1923 in Newport, Kentucky. She graduated from Newport High School in 1941. Friends at school called her "Blondie." Her school year book states "Originality plus artistic ability and an inviting smile makes Bettie an unforgettable member of her class. "The class voted her the best looking. Bettie did all of the sketches in the yearbook. She has also done many oil paintings.

For a two-year period, 1941 and 1942 she worked as a telephone operator. Later she was a receptionist for the Baldwin Piano Company.

On November 11, 1943, she married Charles Reichel who was in the Air Corp. The next day they took a train to Sherman, Texas where Charles was stationed as an aircraft mechanic. They were together for 28 months.

Charles was discharged months later and returned to Oakley, Ohio, where Bettie had set up an apartment. This was close to Cincinnati Milacron where Charles worked for 46 years. Most of that time was in sales.

During those 46 years, 23 years were in the Chicago area. Both of their children were born in this period. Beth was born in Berwyn, Illinois, on September 16, 1950 and Scott on June 25, 1955 in Harvey, Illinois.

Beth is a school counselor in Tucson, Arizona and her husband Richard is an architect. They have two children, Gina and Julie. Scott is employed at Daimler Chrysler and his wife, Christina is a Dental Hygienist. They have two boys, Michael and Charles Jr. Their home is in Noblesville, Indiana.

Bettie and Charles were married 61 years and lived in six states, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Texas and Florida.

Bettie, a wonderful wife, loving mother and friend to everyone is greatly missed but we will all see her again in her new home.

Good Bless You, Bettie!
