| John W. Gibson, 85, of Venice, FL, formerly of Indianapolis, IN, died July 3, 2003. Born May 18, 1918, he was the son of the late Henry and Margaret (Richardson) Gibson. He married Betty Jane Darr on New Year's Eve 1940. He was a WWII veteran and in 1946 he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy. With 33 years of service, he retired from the Allison Division of General Motors in 1974. He was a member of Pleasant Lodge #134 of Acton for over 50 years, the Murat Temple and Scottish Rite. Mr. Gibson was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and attended South Venice Christian Church. Preceded in death by his brother Floyd and sister Ruth, he is survived by his loving wife Betty, daughters and sons-in-law Kathy and Mike Chapman, Cindy and Larry Shepard. Grandchildren Joe Chapman, Jeff Chapman, Bethann Shepard and great-grandchildren Brittany DeHaven, Alec, Brooke & Jacob Chapman. |
