Dorothy L. (Moran) Riha was born on April 7, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Mary Moran. Dorothy's family consisted of two sisters, Joyce Calabria (deceased), Pat Johnson and six brothers, Chick, Tim, Larry, Greg, Paul and Andy.
Dorothy attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Grade School in Chicago. Her family moved to Park Ridge, Illinois where she graduated from Maine Township High School.
Dorothy met Ed Riha in the fall of 1954 and they married on March 3, 1956. They have seven children, three daughters, Barbara (Bohling), Christine (Kassebnia), Patricia (Yeager) and four sons, Thomas, Michael, Steve and Edward Jr.; twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
When Ed got a promotion at his work the family moved to Indianapolis in the summer of 1970 and settled on the eastside. The family joined St. Simon Catholic Church where they became very active members.
Dorothy was on the Liturgy Committee, Eucharistic Minister, Festival Committee, and for many years handled the weekend meals at the Festival. She also was an active member of the St. Simon Goldenairs where she planned and prepared the monthly meeting luncheons for many years.
Dorothy's hobbies were cooking, sewing, gardening and making silk floral arrangements. She always had a bright smile on her face. She loved to be around people. The family and friends will miss her very much. |
