On his application for a marriage license to Lula Branaman dated in 1904, he listed his present occupation as a dairyman. In later life Jacob with his wife, he ran the telephone and lines and his wife operated the switchboard. Jacob was quite apt with poetry. A poem found dated September 7, 1895 to friend "Lulie" says: True love is a golden chain, that lends heart to heart, and not one link of it will break, when lovers have to part.
