Mrs. Carol Deberry was born in Athens, Georgia on September 7, 1947 to the late James and Mary Evans.
As a child she attended with her parents the historical First African Methodist Episcopal Church. She soon moved to Indianapolis, Indiana wither family and united with 25th Street Baptist Church. She accepted Christ as her savior on October 8, 1956.
Carol graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis and attended the Indiana Business College.
Carol united in holy matrimony with Judge Vernon Deberry on June 29, 1968.
After the death of her parents in1973, Carol with her husband became the parents of her younger siblings, Anthony Evans, Donna Evans, Allen Evans and Kevin Evans. Carol also had three children of her Yvette Boyd, Charles Deberry and Amee Patten.
Carol wad an active mother and always made sure her children attended church. She as a Sunday School teacher for many years. When she wasn't a stay-at0home mom, she worked for the Indianapolis Public Schools as a teacher.
After becoming ill, Carol was lovingly cared for by her Aunts Mildred Lasley and the late Mattie Corthins. Carol later moved to Waukegan, Illinois where she lived with her son's family. At her death she lived at the Manor Care Nursing Home in Wilmette, Illinois. Her strong belief in God is what gave her strength these many years. Carol departed this life September 24, 2003. |
