Mom was raised in Cerealine Towne at 23rd Street and Sugar Grove on the corner. Marjorie was the daughter of Joseph Marion Mattingly and Stella Beautress Skinner Mattingly. She had 5 sisters and 1 brother. She worked as a long distance operator for the Indianapolis Telephone Company. She married George Skiles, Jr and had 4 children. Two sons and 2 daughters. She was a cancer survivor and a true believer of life. She graduated from Saint John's Academy, Indianapolis, IN and later went to college to become a dietician. Her work at Family Support Center was commendable. She later took charge of the Kitchen at Eagle Valley from where she retired. At the age of 69 she married Porter Thomas Payne, they had 8 wonderful years together. From this marriage she acquired 3 stepsons. She was a caring loving mom and devoted wife. She was born April 22, 1926 and God called her home June 7, 2003. She will always be loved and never forgotten. |
