Janet Lynn Doerr

Birth Date: 6/1/1966
Death Date: 7/16/2003
Calvary Cemetery
Section 22, Lot 26M, Grave 1

Although Janet only lived 37 years in this world, she lived her life giving honor and praise to her Creator and bringing joy to those who loved her. She is survived by her parents and five siblings.

Her life had a shaky beginning, when she was only six hours old, she had a bowel resection. When she was two days old she was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis.

Janet attended Nativity Grade School and Nativity Catholic Church. She learned to play the piano and she loved to sing. She was a Girl Scout and played kickball. By the time she was 10 years old, Cystic Fibrosis began to affect her health. We took her to the Clinic at Methodist Hospital and we began a regimen of treatments to avoid the complications of her disease.

Janet attended Roncalli High School where she was an honor roll student, graduating in 1984. She sang in the choir and was in the musicals. She was active in Nativity's Youth Group, playing kickball, swimming in Competitions and working with the One-Acts plays.

Janet chose Purdue University and obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1987, being named to the Dean's List several times. She studied Speech and Audiology and went on to her a Masters Degree in Science with a Teachers License in Speech, Language and Hearing in May 1989.

Cystic Fibrosis continued to complicate her life. The summer and fall after graduation, she was in the hospital several times on IV antibiotics. She was diagnosed with Diabetes caused by the Cystic Fibrosis and began taking insulin.

In December of 1989, Janet accepted a job with Noble of Indiana. She had specialized in Speech Therapy for children because she had a great love for youngster and enjoyed working with them. At Noble, Janet worked with the children in their homes or at day care centers.

Janet never complained about the tough life she had due to her disease. She loved and enjoyed her job, her family, and her many friends. Her 8 nieces and 3 nephews were an important part of her life. One of nieces, Angela, died when she was only 10 hours old, but Janet got to hold her and she enjoyed so much spoiling all the children.

In 1993, Janet bought a condo and she was excited and happy to be on "her own" a last. She had many hobbies; photography, calligraphy, basket making, crocheting and cross- stitching were some of the things she enjoyed. Reading was her favorite past time. She was also fortunate to have the opportunity to travel to Europe three different times.

Janet faithfully attended church and sang in the choir, she was a Eucharistic Minister and attended Scripture Study. She truly touched many lives and influenced many by her cheerfulness; trust in God, and acceptance in the face of much adversity. All who knew her noticed her courage, determination, and kindness to others. She will be missed by all, but we will rejoice in her new life of perfect good health for all eternity and cherish our memories of her.

It was Janet's desire to donate her organs after she died, and her final act of love for others was to donate some of her organs for medical research.
