I present this tribute for my Grandpa Sam. He died when I was 15 years old on the coldest day of February 1993. He was in the US Coast Guard working as a cook during World War 2. My grandfather was a kind and generous man that did not like to be in public that much after my grandmother Margie died in 1980. He was a very loving man that cared deeply about his family. He was the only man I knew that could flip pancakes without using a spatula and nit get them stuck to the ceiling. He was also the only man I knew that could make popcorn in a skillet and not burn it. His sister Gertrude Essig-Cochran, who resides in Long Beach, California, survived him. |

This dapper man was asked to leave the premises of the Stardust because he was said to have been counting cards. He wasn't, he just didn't gamble.

Remember the Gremlin? His sister Gertrude is sitting next to him.
