Margaretta Elizabeth (Leibel) Hill was born at 922 N. Hamilton, Indianapolis, IN about 1 a.m. on February 15th, 1912. She attended IPS # 15 and was a 1930 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School where she played first violin in the Tech Orchestra. She also played violin in the orchestra at East Park United Methodist Church orchestra. She joined East Park in 1919 at the age of 7. Margaretta also had a beautiful soprano voice and was a very good dancer. Music was always a very important part of her life.

Margaretta married Frank Eugene Hill on June 30th, 1938 at the minister's home in Southport, IN; the marriage lasted nearly thirty years until his death on March 31st, 1968. After twelve years of marriage, she gave birth to a daughter, Linda Suzanne Hill. She was very active in the PTA and her daughter's teachers were always glad to have Linda in their classes, not only because Linda was a good student, but also because they inherited Margaretta as a room mother.

She worked over twenty years for the Earl J. Scott Company, a company that made samples for the salesmen at Real Silk.

Margaretta passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning, April 27th, 2003 after a short stay at Miller's Merry Manor. She had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in mid-November 1999 and suffered a stroke on January 7th, 2000 which seriously affected her right side. After that date she was confined to a wheel chair. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents Henry Meriedieth and Anna (Dunning) Leibel, her brother Hildreth Vivien Leibel, her sister Marcella May (Leibel) Hubbard, and her nephew Guilford Jack Hubbard. Margaretta was survived by her daughter Linda Suzanne Hill, her niece Dolores May (Hubbard) Fitzpatrick, and her nephew Donald Eugene Hubbard. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30th at Shirley Brothers Irving Hill Chapel and were conducted by Rev. Frank Sablan. She was buried next to her husband at Washington Park East Cemetery.
