Lyle Arthur Armstrong was born in Sioux City, Iowa on July 20, 1922. He departed this life on January 5, 2003. He lived in the Sioux City area with his parents Frank and Rachael Armstrong. He has two sisters, Barbara Dahl and Dorothy Gleason, and two brothers, Bob and Jim. Jim preceded him in death. After attending Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana he entered the Army Air Force in World War 2. He served our country as a pilot and navigator. After his honorable discharge from the service he worked as a salesman in the food brokerage business and also as an accountant for Allison's. He was an honest, hard workingman who worked in the grocery business for sixty years.Lyle and Joan Pfarr met while he was attending Butler University and were married in Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Indianapolis. Lyle converted to the Catholic religion and served his church faithfully. He was a communion minister at Holy Name Catholic Church in Beech Grove, Indiana for eight years. We celebrated out fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1998 with a dinner party with family and friends from across the country. He is survived by his wife, Joan Pfarr Armstrong, two sons, Stan and Keith, two daughter-in-laws, Sydney and Marie, three grandchildren, James, Christopher and Erin, and one great grandchild named Liberty. His death is keenly felt not only by his immediate family, but other relatives and friends of the church and community. We dearly miss him. May he rest in Peace.
