First and foremost, Ernie was a Christian who accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at the age of 17. He actively served his country in the US Marine Corps before returning home to marry his hometown sweetheart. He raised his children in a Christian home and always made time for them. He took them on a great vacation every year from California to Maine and several points in between.

It's impossible to know just how many lives this wonderful man touched during his lifetime. He developed a warm relationship with all he came in contact with. As an industrial caterer, he served commuters at the Deerfield, Illinois and Libertyville, Illinois train stations in the Chicagoland area for many years. He then would serve up to 30 businesses a day, serving breakfast and lunch and offering lively banter and his well-informed opinion on just about everything. He was proud of the fact that he became friends with people from all walks of life, from factory workers to doctors, teachers, attorneys, and congressman. He catered weddings, sporting events, horse shows and company picnics over the past 26 years, never missing a day of work due to illness.

After his semi-retirement in 2001, he and his wife moved to Noblesville, Indiana to be near their children and grandchildren. He went to work for Crossmann Communities as a Permit Coordinator and continued to touch many lives in the surrounding counties. All of the individuals whose lives he touched with his love, kindness and faithfulness are better people for having known him. He made his piece of the world more kind and gentle.

He was loved and adored by his entire family. He truly was a gentle man and will be greatly missed by us all.
