Section 19, Lot 243, Grave 1

Marjorie Cathern Davis was the oldest child of Gertrude and Cassie Dishman. She was born in Marco, Indiana (in southern Indiana) on April 27, 1921. Her father was a carpenter and got a job in Indianapolis, soon after her birth they moved to Indianapolis.

She had 2 younger sisters, Mildred and Betty, and one younger brother, Doyle. They all attended Ben Davis High School.

Marjorie married Charles Davis on Flag Day, June 14, 1942. Two weeks later Charles was drafted into the Army and 3 months later he was sent overseas to England. They wrote hundreds of letters to each other during the 3 years he was overseas. When the war was over, they were united.

They adopted two children, Steven and Dorothy. They lived a very comfortable, wonderful life until about 1965 when Charlie got Alzheimer's. It was a very difficult time and Marjorie had to go back to work to support the family. Marjorie had worked as a secretary before she and Charlie were married so she was able to get a job working for the State of Indiana as a secretary in the Attorney General's Office. In 1977, Charlie passed away after spending years in the Veteran's Hospital. Marjorie continued to work for the State of Indiana for 20 years, and then she retired.

Marjorie met Carl Basz and they were married in 1979. Together they purchased a new home which Marjorie enjoyed making beautiful. Although Carl was still working, they were able to take numerous trips, traveling to Florida and Alaska. In 1993 Carl got cancer and passed away the following year.

Marjorie moved to Greenwood Village South to be close to her sister, Mildred. Not long after moving there she met Ernie Tout. They were married in 1996 and were very happy for 6 years until Marjorie's cancer returned (she had been cancer free for 23 years). She passed away on November 21, 2002, at age 81.

She loved spending time with her children and her grandchildren. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out. She leaves her 3 siblings, her 2 children, many grandchildren, nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was a very religious woman and looked forward to entering The Kingdom of Haven. We know she has found happiness with her Lord for all of eternity.
