| This tribute is written in memory of our brother, Michael Jeffrey Griffin, or as we called him 'Jeff.' Jeff was the second child of Kenneth Raymond and Florence Marie Sines Griffin. Born on March 22, 1957. A sister Diana Kay preceded him on June 16th, 1954.From Florence's first marriage Jeff also had an older brother and two sisters. Steven Allen Kisner, Kathryn Lee Kisner and Paula Sue Kisner.Jeff was a person who was carefree, full of life with a personality that stood out over everyone. Always smiling.Jeff loved to play sports. His greatest achievement was the way he played baseball. From the age of around eight through out high school, Jeff was always the catcher with the number 5. At that time, Johnny Bench was a catcher for the Cincinnati Reds who was always number 5. Jeff admired the way he played. He always said, 'I am going to replace Johnny Bench and be a great catcher too.'After graduating high school at the age of 18, Jeff joined the United States Marine Corps in June of 1975. After completing basic training in Camp Pendleton, CA, Jeff came home for the Thanksgiving holidays. The family gathered for Jeff's homecoming with a big dinner and nature provided a beautiful snowfall.The day after Thanksgiving, Jeff and a friend decided to drive to Alabama to visit his girlfriend who had moved there with her family. During the trip Jeff was killed in an automobile accident in Bowling Green, Kentucky on November 29, 1975 at the age of 18. Jeff was buried with full military honors. |
