John L. Romano, Jr. lived on the Southside of Indianapolis in the Holy Rosary Parish all of his life.
He married Josephine Bisesi, June 29, 1937. Of this union they had, Marie Ann Romano Wood and John Michael.
John L. served in the United States Navy in the Division of the "Seabees" from March 29, 1944 thru January 9, 1946. He received a Victory Medal Asiatic/Pacific & Philippine Liberation (1 star). Served on NCTC vessel in Davisville, R.I. & CBRD vessel in Camp Parks, California. His occupation in the service was Ship Service Man Barber, Third Class.
He was a driver for his father-in-law's produce business, Paul Bisesi & Sons, and several other produce companies. He was once employed, for a short time, as a police officer.
He was self-taught piano player and sometimes sang at wedding and parties. He enjoyed music very much. John was a comedian, a very likeable person, who loved to entertain. He had the very unusual talent of being able to cut his own hair. He later began cutting his son, John's hair and was sometimes called upon to cut friends and relatives that were in the hospital. |
