Alfred Osborne Sr., son of David and Leota martin Osborne, was born October 24, 1919 in Indianapolis, Indiana. His parents and siblings preceded him in death.His friends knew Alfred as 'Chief' or 'Al'. His brother, Raymond, and sisters, Mildred Wallace and Rosette McClury, called him 'A'.Mr. Osborne confessed his hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. R.T. Andrews of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Indianapolis, Indiana.He attended Indianapolis Public Schools and Crispus Attucks High School.Mr. Osborne was united in Holy Matrimony on December 17, 1940 to Mrs. Charlotte Wilson Osborne, who preceded him in death. To this union three daughters were born, Patricia Eileen, Mildred Maxine and Alfreda Osborne.Mr. Osborne was employed at National Malleable Casting Company. 'Chief' liked to box and represented the welterweight division. Later he became a referee of St. Rita's Golden Gloves tournaments. Mr. Osborne was employed for the US Postal Service, Brightwood Station. 'Al' was well thought of by his friends and always joked with a big cigar in his mouth.Mr. Osborne served his country in two branches of the military, US Army with seven years in World War II, and US Marine Corp. for two years.Mr. Osborne was united in Holy Matrimony in 1954 t Mrs. Clara Benton Osborne. Of this union four children were born, Renae' Osborne, Vicky Murray, Lisa Powell and Alfred Osborne, Jr.Mr. Osborne attended Lane Business College Indiana School of Real Estate and founded Midwest Homebuilders. Mr. Osborne was past member of Central Lodge 1, past member of Constantine Consistory 25, Scottish Rite Mason, past Persian Temple 46 F&AM PHA.Mr. Osborne was called home on Thursday, April 4, 2002 at Community Hospital East at the age of eighty-two years, five months and ten days. |
