Donald Allee was born in Indianapolis, Indiana July 25, 1929 to Noble Handford and Ethel Allee. He attended schools in Indianapolis and Illinois. He played football and track and graduated from Ben Davis high School. He attended Cayne Electrical Apprenticeship school and received the Outstanding Apprentice of the Year award in June 1955. He went to work for Watson-Flagg Electric Company in 1952 as an electrician and finally became President of that company. He was a director of the Indiana Subcontractors Association in1973 and President of the North Central Chapter of N.E.C.A. from 1975 to 1976. He retired in 1979 and opened the Speed Queen Laundromat and owned it until 1997.After retiring in 1979 he took up flying and received his pilot license and instrument ratings. He loved to go fishing in Canada with his friends and sons and grandsons. An avid golfer, he hit a "hole in one" in 1994.He joined the Air National Guard in 1949 and activated to the Korean War and sent to Okinawa, where he worked in supply.He belonged to the Lynhurst Masonic Lodge, the Shrine, the Gatling Gun Club and the American Legion.Married in 1949 to Dorothy J. Judy Allee he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. |
