Joseph met Annette in Broad Ripple, working at Hook's Drug Store, they dated four years and three months before they were married and was married for 50 years. They had six children during their marriage. Joseph was a self-employed contractor by trade. He loved to travel with his family. He was a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne in WWII. He stopped the Germans from crossing a bridge in Normandy, so there is a crossroads over their named after him "Joseph Atkins Cross Roads". |
