Robert "Robby" Mobley Collins

Birth Date: 9/25/1923
Death Date: 1/24/2002
Washington Park East Cemetery
Liberty Bell, Section N3A, Niche 4, Row 2

He was my baby brother, the last person who meant anything to me except for my niece, Jeanie my older brother in my Collins family. I loved him dearly and will miss him greatly. He never had a bad word for anyone. He never married and stayed with our mother until she died. This enabled the rest of the family to "get on with our lives". I will forever be grateful to him. He had many friends who became his extended family. His passion was golf and "shooting the bull" with his buddies in the retired Eli Lily League at Sarah Shank Golf Course. He followed most sports but especially basketball. He played basketball at Howe High School and has a signed basketball at the Hoosier Hall of Fame in Newcastle, Indiana. I want to thank all of you for being Robby's friend especially Baker who looked after him in his declining years. So Long Robby!Liz

The football was almost bigger than he was. You could see that at a young age where he was heading.

He bowled twice a week in Leagues. Lily's of course for one. The only sport he didn't either play or follow was ice hockey, too violent.

He loved Howe High School. He was in it's first graduating class. He was devastated when it closed and delighted when it reopened as a middle school.

Oliver is our nephew, Jeanie's grandson. They spent many enjoyable hours together. They truly loved each other.

He ate almost every meal out. This time with his niece, sister and Oliver.

Many of his meals were eaten at the Ankor Inn which was owned by his childhood friend, Jim "Bub" Shevlin. They had been friends since they were 2 years old.

He loved to fish, especially at Bob and Marilyn Velanci's place. He would catch large, middle or small fish but always threw them back for the next guy to catch.

Hole in one. Not his but he was honored to present the trophy to Howard Roseby.

Sarah Shank Golf Course was his home away from home. Even if they couldn't play golf, he went there every day to shoot the breeze. The ones here are Freddie White, Dominic Sergi, Eddie Baker and Tom Pearson. There were many more.

The family celebrated his 75th Birthday at the Ankor Inn. Here he is with his remaining siblings, sister, Liz and brother, Jimmy.
