Myron was born to John and Nellie Lancaster Starn in Carmel, Indianan on November 14, 1907. John parents lived right down the road, and Nellie's mom and step dad were less than a few miles away. They were all Quakers. Myron had a meek and kind demeanor. He was gentle and nice. He enjoyed life on the farm. His dad was a well-liked teacher in the Westfield schools but he died when Myron was 12. Myron had an older brother, Paul, and a younger brother, Mervin.

Myron went to Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana for one year after graduating from Carmel High School. On March 11, 1931, he married Louise Harr, from Noblesville. They had one child, Ann on August 4, 1932. They lived on the farm until Ann was in the second grade. Then they moved to Indianapolis. Myron worked at the Post Office downtown, and Louise worked for Regal Foods Stores and then Indiana National Bank. Myron was known to get in to hot water with Louise for sending money to family members in need when there wasn't money to spare. Myron's mother, younger brother, and Louise's twin sister all lived with them at one time or another. He was generous and loving.

Myron was involved with the Millersville Masonic Lodge and was on the drill team for the Raper Commandry. (Janie was always fascinated with the funny hat he wore with the big white feather.) The drill team won top national honors for many years. He was also a member of a barbershop quartet and played trumpet.

Ann graduated from Shortridge High School, went to Butler University, and then got a job with WIRE radio station. Then she met and married Bill Morrison. On March 15, 1956 Myron's first and only grandchild was born, Janie. Janie, Ann and Bill spent every Sunday at "Mimi's" and Myron's house for lunch. Then Bill would go to hold open houses, and Janie and Ann would just hang out. Myron taught Janie to play Chinese checkers, and Go Fish and many other games. He couldn't stand to see her lose, so he always let her win.

Myron and Louise bought a lot at Painted Hills near Martinsville, Indiana and spent many weekends down there dreaming about the retirement house they would build. However, when retirement came, Myron went to work at Robert's Dairy's Credit Union and then when Louise retired, they sold the lot and bought a mobile home in Sarasota, Florida, were they spent their winters.

In 1986, Janie began dating Steve Buser. Steve and Myron discovered a mutual love of the game of baseball. Myron was known to have two TV's on with different games, and a transistor radio tuned into a third. He could tell you what was going on in each game at any given time. On Myron's 80th birthday, Janie married Steve Buser and became an instant mom to Stephnie. Myron proudly walked her down the "aisle" at Camp Gallahue in Brown County. Instead of having a groom's cake, they had a birthday cake for Myron. He was heard to comment, "It sure was nice of you all to throw me this party"!

He died four months later from a heart attack Dave Livengood, his longtime friend and a Quaker minister said at his service, "When we last visited Louise and Myron, he greeted us warmly and said as he reached for our bags. Here, let me lighten your load."

And that was how he lived his life. Lightening other's loads.
