Louise and her twin sister, Lucille were born across from the old blue schoolhouse in Hamilton County. Her father and mother, Dock and Allie Mae Harr joyfully welcomed this double blessing to their home. The Harrs blessed this world with five girls, Thelma, (or "T"), Laura (or "Peg"), Louise and Lucille (or Mimi and Pal), and Martha. Dock farmed without the benefits of any sons, but he and Allie Mae raised a family that understood the importance of a tight knit family, and they passed this on to the next generations.

Louise graduated from Noblesville High School, and later married Myron Star at the beginning of the Great Depression. They set up housekeeping on his family's farm on Gray Road in Carmel. In 1932, they welcomed their daughter, Ann, into the family. Their home became a haven of fun, love and peace. They opened their home to Myron's brother and mother and to Lucille, who all lived with them at one time or another.
Myron worked for the Post Office and Louise worked for Regal Food Stores as a switchboard operator for many years, and then for Indiana National Bank where she managed the Safety Deposit Box Department at the busy Market Street Branch Downtown Indianapolis.

Louise had about the biggest heart I can imagine. Kindness and caring were the very substance of her being. She had an independent streak that made her a classic giver to others while making it hard on her to ask others to do anything for her. Ad between you and me I must admit another of her faults. She was the champion worrier of all time. I never remember her worrying about herself, but she sure worried about others. Her worry was an expression of her love for others.

Her daughter, Ann, married Bill Morrison and in March of 1956, they gave birth to her only grandchild Janie, and great granddaughter, Stephnie. When Janie was growing up, she and her parents had Sunday lunch with Mimi and Myron every week. Mimi made the best white gravy you have ever tasted. Bill Morrison loved fried chicken, so she made that almost weekly. Janie loved country fried steak and meatloaf, so often one of these were served as well.

When Janie married Steve Buser, and became an instant mom to Stephnie, no one was happier than Louise. Stephnie, who was three at the time, became her pride and joy. She always had fistfuls of pictures and stories to share with her friends. When she had open-heart surgery at 79, the nurses in Intensive Care let Stephnie come in to see her daily, because they learned soon that she was the best medicine in the world for Louise. Louise had a long 3-month recovery in the hospital, but lived another ten years after the surgery.

Louise had many friends. She loved her Quaker Church, loved to play cards and loved to travel. At 88 years of age, she bought a new sporty car with a sunroof. She was known to pick up her good friend, Thelma Jones (89), and off they would go to Pittsboro for lunch at Frank and Mary's or to Mooresville to Gray's Cafeteria.

We spoke daily on the phone, and knowing someone loves you and cares about you on a daily basis is something you take for granted until it is gone.
