Louis Albert Eytchison was born in Madison County, Indiana. As a young man, he worked in Elwood, Indiana as a glass blower. In his early 20's, he met and married Nellie Mae Jester. After residing in Alexandria, Indiana, for a few years, they moved to the little town of Brightwood where he worked for the Big Four Railroad. He also worked with his father and brothers building houses. He built our house.Dad was a hard worker. In 1926, he was injured working on a church, which injury subsequently led to his death. He was a good father and was very devoted to mother and his children. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He never owned a car but rode his bicycle to and from work. He was not destined to raise his family. When he died, he left six children ranging from age 18 years to 18 months. He was one of the first to be buried in Washington Park Cemetery in October 1928. |
