Death Date: 7/29/2001

Joann was her given name, but we called her Jody. She was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. Throughout the years, Jody taught her four children to have respect for others, have dignity for themselves to love one another, and to always be strong and stand tall. Her children were everything in the world to her. She protected them the best she could. Jody liked doing things to help other people. She had so much love to give. She helped raise some of her nieces and a nephew. No, she didn't have to but she wanted too! To her family was everything. Jody was the type of person you could sit at the table with. Tell her your problems or concerns and she always had the answers, advice, or ways of helping out. Her home was always open. She was ready to help someone the best as she could. Her home was her children's second home, welcome any day or night.Jody worked a lot through her life. Sometimes working two jobs at a time for her children. Rain or shine, car or no car, she worked. Some of her places of employment were the State Police Department, Noble Center for the mentally handicapped; she was a secretary for 7001, which was an organization to help teens get their GED, the City County Building, the BMV and the Teachers Retirement Fund. Jody also donated her time to many organizations. She rally against abortion, worked with youth services, the multi service center, she did Chalk the Town, donated to Jerry's kids for six years, was a Cub Scout leader for the Boys Scouts of America and volunteered at the Eiteljorg Museum. Jody was a people person, and if her help was needed, she was always there to give it her best. Jody was a fun and happy person at family gatherings. She loved seeing everyone. I think it was being together she liked the most. Surrounded by her love ones was something she enjoyed. It always put a smile on her face. In December 1999, Jody found out that she had cancer, which was devastating to her children and family. When Jody was sad, someone was there to listen or to give her a shoulder to cry on. Her sisters took her to places she had never been before. It made her happy. She took a few trips with her husband, kids and grandchildren. Around October 2000, Jody had to have someone with her at all times. So, her family gathered and made out lists of who would be with Jody. Because we knew, we would take care of her no matter what. On July 29, 2001 at 9:15 in the morning, Jody passed away in her sleep. Her husband, children, sisters, brothers and family all showed up. We cried, we laughed, we were together, which is something Jody wanted.Your now in the arms of angels. We love you,Your Family
