Ruby was one of three girls and five boys born to Verne and Xennie Likens of Frankton, Indiana, on April 19, 1925. She was raised on a farm and attended school in Perkingsville and Lapel, Indiana. She worked for twenty years at Guide Lamp in Anderson.

Ruby and I were married February 8, 1963 and lived on a farm near Westfield. She raised chickens and had a vegetable garden. She loved to work outside. She was an artist and loved to cook.

We moved to Seminole, Florida in March 1987 and became active in the First Church of the Nazarene, Pinellas Park, Florida and she continued her artwork. She was 76 years old when she died September 27, 2001.
