| Emma Mae Caruthers was born on August 26, 1907, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Orville Gordon and Eva Rice. She attended the Indianapolis Public Schools.She was united in matrimony to Charles Warfield, who preceded her death. To this union were born two children, Doris and Gordon. In 1961, she was united in matrimony to Henry Caruthers; he also preceded her in death.Emma was a loyal member of Messiah Missionary Baptist Church. She served in the Missionary as long as her health permitted. She was also a member of the Golden Ages of the Church.For a while, Mrs. Caruthers suffered, intermittently, from poor health. She was called from labor to rest on Tuesday, May 7, 1991, in Methodist Hospital, at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 11 days. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, one daughter, Doris L. Gholston, one son, Gordon O. Warfield, one brother, Orlando J. Gordon, five grandchildren, Marcia, William, Larry, Charles and Gordon Gholston, 18 great grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren, a loving church family and many devoted friendships lasting through the years. |
